As a mom of three-year-old triplets, I’ve gained a new excitement for holidays—whether it’s St. Patrick’s Day, the change of seasons, or any excuse to make everyday moments feel special. Over the years, I’ve discovered that creating holiday magic at home doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive—despite what you may see on social media! Even small gestures can create lasting holiday memories for your littles. My favorite way to kick off every holiday is with a simple seasonal-themed bedroom refresh. Here’s my guide to keeping it quick, easy, and affordable!
Swap out the bedding – This may seem unrealistic at first, but one easy way I keep it simple is by rotating comforters in a few core colors based on the season (green for Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day, pink for Valentine’s Day and Easter, etc.). I love how excited my kids get when they walk into a refreshed room and immediately tell everyone they know: "We got new beds!"
Rotate their books – I refresh the triplets’ bookshelves by swapping in a few holiday-themed books and filling in the rest with books that have covers in the colors of that holiday. Shopping for secondhand books is a great way to keep this budget-friendly! After each holiday, store the books in a labeled bin so they’re organized and ready to go next year.
Hang a banner or garland – I love grabbing a few simple holiday decorations, like banners or garlands, from the dollar store to add a festive touch. Store them in a labeled bin after each holiday, and you can easily reuse them year after year!
And FINALLY, don’t forget the holiday-themed pajamas! Lay them out on their beds as part of the big reveal. This one’s easy—follow Clover Baby & Kids to stay updated on holiday launches, or if you’re planning ahead, grab a size up when last season’s styles go on sale! If your kids are anything like mine, they’ll be hunting for their holiday jammies every night. (We may or may not still be wearing our Santa Mail pajamas in March…)
One last thing to remember—it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Life gets busy, and sometimes all I manage is swapping in a throw pillow and a single holiday book on their shelf. And you know what? That’s still a win. Because let’s be real—my three-year-olds probably won’t remember every decorated room or new set of pajamas (yet), but I hope they grow up remembering that holidays always felt special and that we had a lot of fun celebrating each one. And maybe one day, they’ll want to create that same magic for their own kids. Xx - Mikala Ferry (@themoretheferryer)
