Raising Awareness and Hope: Clare’s Journey with Rett Syndrome

Hi Clover Community,

I’m Clare’s mom, Allison, and I'm writing to share a little about our journey with Rett syndrome, during Rett Syndrome Awareness Month. While Rett syndrome has brought many challenges to our lives, it’s also brought us closer to an incredible community of supporters who’ve helped us along the way.

Our daughter Clare was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects 1 in 10,000 females (and even more rarely in males) and begins to display itself in missed milestones or regression at 6-18months. Imagine the symptoms of cerebral palsy, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and autism all together- that’s what many of our kids with Rett Syndrome deal with daily.

It’s a condition that can feel overwhelming as it affects so many aspects of Clare's life. She struggles with speech, motor skills, and needs help with everyday tasks, but despite these difficulties, she is a bright and sassy little girl who loves to tease her sister and give us all a good laugh. She’s a fighter, and we are so lucky to have her in our lives.

Recently, Clare was gifted a pair of PJs from Clover Baby & Kids, and let me just say—they were an absolute hit! Clare loved how soft they were, and I could tell they made her feel cozy and comfortable. As a mom, it’s such a relief to find clothes that are not only adorable but also gentle on Clare’s sensitive skin.

I reached out to Nikki and the team at Clover to discuss how we could collaborate to raise awareness for Rett syndrome and support the families affected by this condition. I'm proud to share that a portion of Clover Baby & Kids’ sales from Oct 24-25 will go directly to Rett syndrome research and family aid. The work being done by organizations like CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) has been invaluable to us, and we want to do everything we can to support that. By working with Clover Baby & Kids, we hope to bring more awareness to Rett syndrome and make a difference in the lives of families like ours.

So, shop and support! If you’re interested in learning more about Rett syndrome or getting involved with our efforts, check out: International Rett Syndrome Foundation OR Rett Syndrome Research Trust. Both are amazing organizations helping to fund research to find a cure for Rett syndrome.

We are excited about what we can accomplish together.

Warmly,
Clare’s Mom, Allison
