There’s something magical about the Jersey Shore in the summertime. The salty ocean breeze, the crashing waves, and — maybe most iconic of all — the sound of seagulls calling overhead. For me, it’s the ultimate soundtrack to childhood.
I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and every summer meant one thing: going “down the Shore.” My childhood is full of memories like sandy toes, sun-drenched afternoons, boardwalk rides, and ice cream that melted faster than we could eat it. The sound of seagulls instantly brings me back to those carefree, sun-soaked days — and that nostalgic, joyful feeling became the inspiration behind one of our favorite summer prints: Seagulls.
A Full-Circle Family Tradition at the Jersey Shore
Now, we’re making new memories on those same beaches — this time with our three kids. My husband also grew up visiting the Jersey Shore, so it’s incredibly meaningful for us to experience it all over again as parents. Watching our kids build sandcastles, chase seagulls, and eat way too much boardwalk pizza is like stepping into a time capsule — except now, it’s even better.

As a mom of three, I’ve packed for my fair share of family beach days. If you're heading to the beach with toddlers or young kids, here are my tried-and-true beach essentials:
