Happy National Crayon Day! Launching a blog has been on our to-do list since we founded the brand in 2017. After nearly 6+ years, we are (gently) entering the blogosphere with a crayon-inspired activity on none other than…National Crayon Day.
We're obviously big fans of crayons and coloring – download our coloring pages here!. Another favorite, easy-to-do project is making custom crayons. I recently did this with my girls and we gifted our creations to a few of their friends!
Materials:
1. Old or broken crayons 2. Access to an oven / baking sheet 3. Silicone mold of your choosing
You can use molds in all shapes and sizes, but in my case, I used this alphabet mold to make personalized name crayons!
Instructions:
1. Remove the crayon wrapper (soak in warm water and wrapper should slip right off) 2. Break the crayons into small pieces and generously fill your mold 3. Bake in the oven at 250° F, until fully melted (about ten minutes) 4. Let sit until they have cooled, and then carefully remove from mold
Voilà! Super-cute, custom crayons that you and your kids will have a blast making, using, and giving to all their friends.
Happy coloring! Jenna
